UNIFORM POLICY 2006-07

Preschool

Preschool students are not required to wear a school uniform with the exception of socks and tennis shoes. Socks and tennis shoes are required for the Preschool students because of safety related issues. The tennis shoes should be of ankle height, have enclosed heels and toes and be secured by Velcro or shoelaces. Shorts are required to be worn under dresses and skirts to accommodate recess and P.E. Thematic type clothing, backpacks and lunchboxes with Power Rangers, Ninja Turtles, Pokemon, Harry Potter, etc. are not acceptable at our school.

K-8th

We will continue to use the VCCA polo shirts in red, white or navy blue with the VCCA logo on it. For the 2005-06 school year only the old style polo shirt or the new style polo shirt will be acceptable. The new style shirts are available for sale through the school office. Shirts are to be tucked-in at all times. If the uniform shirt becomes torn or significantly faded it needs to be replaced. Uniform style bottoms (pants, shorts, skorts, skirts or jumpers) are required of all K-8th grade students in navy blue or khaki. Uniform bottoms must be solid colors, plain and void of embroidery, appliqués, lace, ribbon, etc. Many stores including Mervyn’s, Target, K-Mart, Gap and Dennis Uniforms carry official uniform line bottoms. There is a specific plaid that can be added to the girl’s uniform bottoms, available at Dennis Uniforms. It is called the Woodland Plaid and is optional, not required. The only plaid option will be the Woodland Plaid. Jeans, cords, sweatpants (shorts), athletic pants (shorts) and cargo pants (shorts) will not be allowed. Please be aware that tennis shoes will continue to be a part of the uniform code. As in past years, it is important to remember that they are to be of ankle height with enclosed heels and toes and secured with either Velcro or shoelaces. The student’s uniform bottom and shoes must be plain with no embroidery, appliqués, lace, ribbon, etc. on them. Thematic type clothing, backpacks and lunchboxes with Power Rangers, Ninja Turtles, Pokemon, Harry Potter, etc. are not acceptable at our school.

In cool and cold weather if your child wears a long sleeved undershirt or sweatshirt that will remain on in the classroom, and thus become part of his/her uniform, it must be solid navy blue, red or white. Jackets and coats that will be removed once the child is in the classroom may be the color of your choice.

Middle School Only

The Middle School students may wear a uniform line button down oxford cloth shirt with long or short sleeves in either white or light blue or the required VCCA polo shirts with the required uniform bottoms. The oxford cloth shirt is an option for the Middle School students only. Shirts are to be tucked-in at all times.
